Departing Weymouth via minibus, join us as we explore the Jurassic Coast in the morning, scavenge for fossils in Charmouth and relax in the village of Lyme Regis!

Wander Charmouth beach and scavenge for fossils and relax in the picturesque and tranquil village of Lyme Regis exploring one of the many cafes, restaurants and shops.
Meet and greet your fellow passengers for the day ahead on the Jurassic Coast. We will always wait an extra 5 minutes for those running late.
Wander down the slope to the famous limestone archway! Said to be the most accessible and best preserved archway in the world, it really is a site to see. Spend time rummaging for fossils on the beach cove or just take in the awe inspiring view. Its up to you!
Stroll down to the perfectly formed horse shoe shaped cove formed over 10,000 years ago; try no to be distracted by the wonderful coffee shops and tea rooms on the way! Dont forget to check out Stair Hole and Lulworth Crumple formed over 180 million years ago!
On route to Lyme Regis we drive the Jurassic Coast Road which is one of the most strikingly scenic coastal roads in Britain! And if there's time we might even be able to stop at Broadchurch!
Wander the beach of Charmouth and scavenge for fossils. Spend the afternoon in the picturesque and tranquil village of Lyme Regis and relax in one of the many cafes, restaurants or shops.
*Times and itinerary variations should be expected due to opening times, weather conditions and availability.
*This adventure does NOT include a guided fossil walk. You are free to wander the beach and scavenge for fossils at your own pace.
Tour start time is 9AM.
Pick up is at Weymouth Train Station (DT4 7BN).
Fossil hunting is conducted at Charmouth Beach and your guide will direct you to where fossils can be found. Your guide will not accompany whilst you are fossil hunting on Charmouth beach. You are free to wander the beach and scavenge for fossils at your own pace. If using a hammer to find fossils, it is advised eye protection should be worn.
Eye protection and fossil hammers can be provided for this tour.
At each sight your guide will give you a brief description of the area, orientate you, talk to you about its history and explain its geology. You will then have FREE TIME to explore the area as you wish before moving on to the next sight.
This tour needs a minimum number of passengers to operate. If this requirement is not met by your tour date, you will be offered an alternative date or the tour will be cancelled and you will be refunded in full.
This is NOT a shore excursion and will not pick up or drop off at Portland Cruise Port.
Portland is known as ‘tied’ island and is connected to the mainland via a single causeway. Depending on what time of day you travel, it can sometimes take 1-2 hours to travel from the Isle of Portland into Weymouth. We would urge you to factor in these extra travel times as we cannot guarantee your return to the ship on time.

Fossil hunting is conducted at Charmouth Beach which is rich in fossils, your guide will direct you to where fossils can be found. Your guide will not accompany you fossil hunting on Charmouth beach.
* fossil hunting needs to be carried out when the tide is low for the sake of safety, so this might take place earlier in the day depending upon the tide time on the day.
