Jump on the minibus from Weymouth and explore the Jurassic Coast scavenging for fossils on Charmouth beach! Continue your Jurassic Coast experience and enjoy free time in Lyme Regis to explore the fossil shops, cafes and beach!
We'll make our way to the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, where you'll meet your fossil guide for your introductory talk on your forthcoming fossil walk. You'll then head off with your fossil guide to go fossil hunting!
After your fossil walk in Charmouth you'll have free time to relax in the picturesque and tranquil village of Lyme Regis, home to famous Georgian fossil collector and paleontologist Mary Anning, explore one of the many fossil shops, cafes and restaurants.

Our driver will meet you at the departure point and transport you to your fossil guide in Charmouth. From there your fossil guide will conduct your fossil walking experience. After your fossil walk our driver will transport you back to your departure point.

This adventure includes a fossil walk.
Fossil walks are conducted at Charmouth Beach with a qualified fossil guide or warden.
Your driver will not accompany whilst you are fossil hunting on Charmouth beach.
Fossil hunting walks typically take between 1 - 2 hours.
This is a shared group fossil walk. Other groups booked independently (with the fossil guide) will also be on this fossil walk.

This tour needs a minimum number of passengers to operate. If this requirement is not met by your tour date, you will be offered an alternative date.
This is NOT a shore excursion and will not pick up or drop off at Portland Cruise Port.
Portland is known as ‘tied’ island and is connected to the mainland via a single causeway. Depending on what time of day you travel, it can sometimes take 1-2 hours to travel from the Isle of Portland into Weymouth. We would urge you to factor in these extra travel times as we cannot guarantee your return to the ship on time.

Due to strict beach allocation and fossil ranger availability, we are unable to give refunds on bookings. We are happy to transfer you/your group to another date, if we have availability.

Fossil walks are carried out by a qualified warden or fossil ranger.
You will be transported from Weymouth to Charmouth where we’ll meet your qualified warden or fossil ranger.
Our driver will not accompany you on fossil hunt.
Fossil hunting needs to be carried out when the tide is low for the sake of safety, so this might take place earlier in the morning or afternoon depending upon the tide time on the day. Your tour will be adjusted accordingly.
Fossil hunt duration: 1 – 2 hours
